About
My name is David Gschwend and I have been journeying with Jesus since 1971. He had been pursuing me a lot longer than that, but it was my senior year in high school that I finally decided to start following him. After graduating from college I taught high school biology and chemistry for four years. After that, I worked in the electrical industry in testing and troubleshooting high, medium and low voltage power equipment. Finally in 1989 my journey took me into the pastoral ministry. After 16 years serving in traditional churches Jesus led me in June 2006 to begin a movement of networks of reproducing house churches from San Jose to Monterey, CA (www.gatheringbythebay.org). This has been the craziest part of the journey so far!

i love your site!! way to go Dave!
Dear Dave,
Thank you for the website. I couldn’t agree more with all that you have shared regarding the status of the church. I think it is because we (men & women) have in most instances through the ages have been building the church according to OUR plan, not HIS.
About three months ago I finally accepted my role as a shephard (pastor) under the covering of my Mexican apostle friend, Santiago. Until that time for some unexplained reason I couldn’t or wouldn’t do it.
Since then I have been wrestling in the spirit as to what the Lord would have His church under my care look like. So far it is definitely along the lines of what you have found with regard to church in a home. The Lord has shown me that there are thousands of “lost sheep” wandering the hills around Castro Valley and adjacent localities. He has made it clear that HE will put his finger on the sheep and draw them into the fold that He wants me to shepherd. I just need to be obediently patient and in prayer while He works and rounds them up. Part of His work involves me and Rita and our relationship. There are definitely adjustment needed so that we will be properly “yoked” according to His plan so the work can proceed.
I pray that you and I can meet sometime soon for prayer and mutual encouragement in the spirit. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Richard

Are you the same Dave who wast South Hills Community Church? This is an odd blog entry I know but I don’t see an email link here so I can’t send you email. How things change!

Hi dave,
Have you been in Ethiopia, in 2001? Please let me know; I have many good news to tell you, if you are the right person I am searching for.
